Terms & Conditions

The following terms set out the basis on which Garuda Gearworks accepts watches and clocks for service, repair, and restoration. By leaving a timepiece with us or confirming a service by email or telephone, you are agreeing to these terms. We ask that you read them at your ease before work begins; if anything is unclear, we are glad to discuss it.

1. About Us

Garuda Gearworks is a watch repair and restoration workshop located at 101 Mu 4, Patong, Kathu, Phuket 83150, Thailand. We may be contacted by telephone on +66 76 512 938 or by email at [email protected]. References to "we", "us", and "our" in these terms mean Garuda Gearworks. References to "you" mean the person who has brought in or enquired about a timepiece.

2. Accepting a Watch for Service

When you bring a timepiece to our workshop, we will inspect it, discuss our findings with you, and provide a written estimate of the work we consider appropriate and its cost before any service begins. No work will proceed without your agreement to the estimate.

Where an inspection reveals that the scope of work differs from the initial assessment — for example, where hidden wear or damage becomes apparent once a movement is fully dismantled — we will pause and contact you to discuss the revised scope and cost before continuing. Work will resume only with your approval.

We reserve the right to decline a watch if we judge that the work required is outside our competence or that we cannot source suitable parts. In that case we will tell you promptly so that you can seek assistance elsewhere.

3. Estimates and Pricing

Our service prices are stated in Thai Baht (฿) and include labour. Parts required are itemised and costed separately. The estimate we provide is our best assessment of the total cost based on the information available at the time of inspection.

Prices quoted are subject to confirmation after inspection. Final costs may differ where additional parts or work are needed, but only with your prior agreement in writing or by telephone.

4. Turnaround Times

Turnaround times are estimates and depend on the complexity of the work, the availability of parts, and our current workshop schedule. Typical turnaround times are:

We will keep you informed of progress. If a significant delay arises, we will contact you as soon as we are aware of it. We are not liable for delays outside our reasonable control, such as difficulties in sourcing specialist parts.

5. Service Warranty

On completion of a service or repair, we provide a twelve-month service warranty covering the work we have carried out. This means that if a fault directly attributable to our workmanship arises within twelve months of collection, we will rectify it at no additional charge.

The warranty does not cover:

6. Care of Timepieces in Our Keeping

We take reasonable care of all timepieces entrusted to us. We hold watches in a secure workshop environment and do not allow unauthorised persons access to pieces in our care.

We recommend that owners take out their own insurance on valuable pieces prior to leaving them with us. While we take care to avoid damage, our liability for loss or damage while a piece is in our care is limited to the cost of the repair service agreed. We are not liable for the market or sentimental value of the watch.

We will record the condition of each piece on acceptance using our intake form. We ask you to inform us of any known damage or sensitivities before work begins.

7. Collection and Uncollected Watches

We will notify you when your timepiece is ready for collection. Payment in full is required before the watch is released. We accept payment in Thai Baht by cash or bank transfer; please enquire about available payment methods when confirming your service.

If a watch is not collected within ninety days of our notification that it is ready, we will write to you by email and, where possible, by post. If the watch remains uncollected after a further sixty days and we have received no response, we reserve the right to recover reasonable storage costs from any payment already made. We will always attempt to make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking any such step.

8. Cancellation

You may cancel a service at any time before work has begun, and your watch will be returned without charge. If you cancel after work has begun, we will charge for the work completed to that point, including any parts already ordered or fitted. We will give you a clear account of the costs incurred before asking for payment.

Where we have inspected the watch and you decide not to proceed with the service, an inspection fee may apply. We will tell you about this possibility before beginning an inspection.

9. Use of Third-Party Parts

Where original manufacturer parts are available and practical, we prefer to use them. Where they are not, we source suitable quality replacement parts and will advise you of this during the estimate discussion. For antique and vintage pieces, we may hand-finish or fabricate parts to match original specifications.

Parts used are listed in our service documentation. If you have a preference regarding parts sourcing, please let us know before work begins.

10. Water Resistance

Where our service includes fitting new seals, we will test water resistance where the case design permits and advise you of the result. We will give you our honest view on suitable water contact after the service.

Please note that water resistance is not a permanent condition. Seals degrade over time, and resistance is not assured following any impact or opening of the case. We are not liable for water ingress occurring after collection unless it results directly from a fault in our workmanship within the warranty period.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising from a service provided by Garuda Gearworks will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts. We hope that any concerns can be resolved through direct conversation before recourse to formal process.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you agree to a service is the version that applies to that service. We will note the date of any revision at the top of this page.
