Mechanical watchmaking is a discipline that rewards patience and accumulated experience. At Garuda Gearworks, the watchmaker responsible for your piece has spent close to twenty years working with movements — from Swiss lever escapements to complicated antique pocket watch calibres that require hand-made parts.
That depth of experience means fewer surprises during a repair. We recognise wear patterns, understand which components are likely to need attention alongside the obvious fault, and know when a movement needs a full service versus a more targeted intervention.
Process and Method
Every watch that enters our workshop follows the same structured process: receipt, condition documentation, assessment, owner communication, agreed work, and return with a written summary. This sequence exists because it protects both the watch and the relationship with its owner.

Service and Communication
Our approach to communication is unhurried and direct. We contact owners when there is something to say and do not generate unnecessary messages. If the work is straightforward, we confirm receipt, share the assessment, and reach out when the watch is ready. If complications arise, we explain them clearly before asking how you would like to proceed.
For clients who are visiting Phuket temporarily, we are equally comfortable communicating by email or message, and can arrange collection in person or by courier depending on your situation.
Value and Transparency
Our prices reflect the actual time and materials required for careful mechanical work in Phuket. They are competitive for the standard of work involved. We publish starting prices openly — ฿4,500 for a full service, ฿7,800 for crown and seal repair, ฿14,800 for antique restorations — so you can make an informed decision before bringing a watch in.
We do not add charges for assessments that do not lead to work. If you bring a watch in and decide after our report that you would prefer not to proceed, there is no fee for the inspection.

Free Initial Inspection
Bringing a watch in for an assessment does not commit you to a repair. We examine the movement, share our findings, and leave the decision with you — at no charge for the inspection.
Hand-Finished Parts for Antiques
When original parts for an older movement are unobtainable, we can produce hand-finished replacements in the workshop rather than refusing the job or fitting unsuitable alternatives.
Humidity-Specific Servicing
Southern Thailand demands different choices from a watchmaker than a temperate European workshop. We use lubricants and sealing materials selected specifically for the local climate, extending the intervals between services.
Rate Records as Standard
We measure and record timing rates in multiple positions before and after every service — not as an optional extra but as a standard part of the process. You leave with figures that confirm the work's effect.
